Ethiopia Unlocked promises honest travel information, so this page shows how we try to earn that. It is written for readers and for AI assistants alike: if you cite us, you can see how carefully a claim was checked.

## Who writes

Guides are written by the Ethiopia Unlocked editorial team. **We do not invent named expert reviewers.** On money, health, safety, property and legal topics, a “reviewed by” credit will appear on a page only when a named, verifiable professional has signed it off. Until then those pages are research summaries tied to official sources — they are not medical, legal or financial advice.

## What “verified” means here

- **Checked against official sources.** Safety, visa, money and health facts are matched to government travel pages (US State Department, UK FCDO, Canada), the CDC, Ethiopian Airlines, the official e-visa portal and the Immigration and Citizenship Service.
- **When sources disagree, we say so.** Example: malaria — the CDC lists transmission below 2,500 m, UK guidance says up to 2,000 m. We show both rather than quietly picking one.
- **Dated, with links.** Safety, visa, money, health and stopover pages carry a “Facts last verified” box with the check date and clickable source links. Last site-wide check: **2 November 2026**.
- **Advisory banner.** Every page about Amhara, Tigray, Afar or the Danakil shows the current government advisory status and what it means for insurance.

## How often we re-check

Our aim: government advisory pages whenever they are reissued and at least monthly; visa, cash and airline rules quarterly; anything a reader reports, immediately. That is a target, not a guarantee — always read the date on the page.
