- 2026-11-02 — Safety guide. Advisory wording made precise: the US lists Do Not Travel for Tigray, Amhara and specific areas of Afar (not all of Afar), and its advisory page shows a reissue date of 27 August 2026 (we had cited 1 April 2026). UK regional wording added. Removed the blanket statement that the highlands are essentially malaria-free.
- 2026-11-02 — 10-day itinerary. Contradiction fixed: the page presented a northern route (Bahir Dar, Gondar, Simien, Axum, Gheralta, Lalibela) as the plan we would book, while our own safety guide said those regions are under Do Not Travel advisories. The page is now two versions: A (Rift Valley, south and Omo, recommended now) and B (northern circuit, for planning only). The homepage no longer features the Danakil or northern guides.
- 2026-11-02 — Ethiopian Airlines stopover guide. Corrected to Ethiopian Airlines' own rules: the free hotel applies to 8–24 hour connections on a single Ethiopian ticket, the voucher is issued automatically, and passengers in the programme are generally helped with a transit visa — we had said it applied only to “well over eight hours”, varied by fare class, and that a tourist e-visa was needed to leave the airport. Added the April 2026 visa-free stopover policy, which per the airline was not in force as of August 2026.
- 2026-11-02 — Visa and entry guide. Cash rules corrected: non-residents declare foreign cash above US$10,000 (residents above US$4,000; US$500 at land borders) and may carry no more than 3,000 birr — we had given US$4,000 for everyone. Added the Ethiopian Origin ID (Yellow Card) visa exemption for diaspora visitors. Softened “visa-free only for Kenya and Djibouti”, which we could not support from the official sources we read.
- 2026-11-02 — Malaria wording (6 guides). Replaced “the highlands are essentially malaria-free” with route-based wording and both sources: the CDC lists transmission below 2,500 m including Addis Ababa; UK guidance says common up to 2,000 m. Affected: safety, health, visa, packing, how-to-travel and camping guides.
- 2026-11-02 — EthioLinkPay wording. Our sister site EthioLinkPay is a remittance comparison tool and does not hold or move money. Pages that said it helps families “move money” or “pay bills” now say it compares licensed providers, with a disclosure that we own it and may earn a commission.
- 2026-11-02 — Site fixes. Cookie-consent banner added (our privacy policy already promised a consent choice for EEA/UK/Swiss visitors, but none was shown); Escape key and focus trap added to the mobile menu; /tours/ added to the sitemap; affiliate /go/ links now redirect server-side (HTTP 302).
