The Arba Minch trio
Three excursions define a visit, and most travellers do all three over 2–3 days:
- Lake Chamo boat safari to the crocodile market — huge crocs, hippo pods, pelicans and fish eagles (morning is best).
- Nechisar National Park game drive across the white-grass plains — Burchell's zebra, Grant's gazelle, and the stunning Bridge of God viewpoint between the two lakes.
- Dorze village in the Guge highlands (2,900 m) — beehive houses, master weavers, false-banana kocho bread and local arak.

Building your itinerary
A satisfying shape: day one, fly in and take the afternoon Chamo boat safari; day two, Nechisar in the morning and Dorze in the afternoon; day three, continue south toward Konso and the Omo Valley or fly back. Sunset from a ridge lodge over the two lakes, tilapia and a cold St George in hand, is southern Ethiopia's softest hour.
Getting there & onward
Ethiopian Airlines flies Addis → Arba Minch daily (about an hour); most people fly in and tour by private 4x4 with a driver-guide arranged locally. Arba Minch is the natural launch point for the whole Omo circuit — Jinka, Turmi and Omorate lie south. Go September–March for dry roads; the lakeshore stays warm year-round. Bring binoculars, sun protection and cash in birr for park and boat fees.
